Villa Claretta Residence

The beginning

It all started at Villa Claretta , a university residence located in Grugliasco in the province of Turin . I was a student at the faculty of agriculture in Turin and I had my little garden above the residence parking lot. One evening in May 2018, I had forgotten the water hose open, I ran to turn it off, illuminating the path with my cell phone. It was there that I captured that same place, wrapped in that moment in boundless beauty. All the flowering weeds came out of that darkness sparkling as if illuminated by day but against the backdrop of a black painting.

I wanted to immortalize this vision with a photo but the cell phone was the flashlight. In the days that followed, seduced by that enchantment, I undertook an in-depth study on flower stabilization.

Charles Bridge

Prague

A few days later, I received my Master's Degree in sustainable management of cropping systems, and shortly after I was awarded a Scholarship on the optimization of soilless cropping systems. In the following days, on a pleasure trip with some friends, we found ourselves at a craft market on the Charles Bridge in Prague, a historic stone bridge over the Vltava. Talking with some craftsmen, I felt the desire to express and free my creative side like them.

Stabilized flowers and leaves

13'or Flowers & Leaves

With the autumn, thanks to the stabilization tests concluded successfully, I started to make jewelry with 5 ml bottles with cork stoppers, containing flowers and leaves of spontaneous plants. During the Christmas period, my gift idea was very much liked by friends and colleagues, strong in that success, I booked for my first market as an exhibitor. I therefore registered as a hobbyist and thus my first brand was born: 13'Or Fiori & Foglie. Although they were very much appreciated, I realized that my idea of the pendants lacked authenticity to recreate the dream of that night vision of mine.

"Pests"

The resin

My research led me to Epoxy Resin which is more than just a material: it is a liquid canvas that transforms into solid and resistant works of art. With its crystalline transparency and the ability to adapt to infinite shapes and colors, it allows you to give life to unique creations, from modern design to the most surprising natural effects.

My first attempts were catastrophic, after months of attempts and research on resin processing, I finally managed to recreate that Night Enchantment. In the meantime, thanks to my in-depth studies on the subject, I discovered an extraordinary combination of Resin and Wood.

The wood

With Wood, an infinite world opened up to me. I was seduced by this material so simple and complex at the same time. Its grain, sculpted by time, embodies the strength and resilience of Nature, transforming every fiber into a timeless tale of beauty and life. Just like an ancient forest, full of hidden treasures, every piece of wood holds secrets and memories, charm and all the intensity of nature in every detail.

Its workmanship was unknown to me, but guided by instinct, I made friends with Sega and Cartavetro.

I tried many times, I made many mistakes, but I learned to observe the shapes and colors during the craft markets, until I reached satisfactory results. At a certain point, the need arose within me to unite all my knowledge, trying, through my creations, to reveal the beauty of "Little".

Improvisation

13'Or Art

13'Or Art is me, Pierre Anicet Tonye Gwodog. I am a native of the sub-Saharan forest people and precisely in Lissé, where the archaic woodworking is still part of everyday life. Now I live in Angrogna , a beautiful mountain town in the province of Turin (Italy). For my work I try to make the best use of what nature gives me. I draw on self-taught studies, supported by the advice of friends and craftsmen met during my experience as a Hobbyist .

13'Or Art is improvisation, the continuous search for simple, rustic, minimal and timeless beauty.
